The Switchblade™ is a modular load carriage system. Each user gets an identical frameset (shown at left) consisting of the patented modular CHIEF Framesheet, a set of shoulder straps, and an adjustable waist belt. Thanks to this framset design, the user then has the capability to configure the additional pack pieces to their needs. Of particular interest is its compatibility with Catoma’s carriage systems for heavy weapons. The MAG Pack system for Assistant gunners is a leap forward in capability, along with the development of pouches to carry 60mm and 81mm mortar packs. Both systems can then be stacked with a pack or sustainment flap to provide storage space for other gear. Since the frameset is usually 60% or so of the cost of any pack, the modularity of this system also represents a significant cost savings to the user organizations. Pieces can be replaced or upgraded over time as they are damaged or phased out in normal use, instead of complete systems needing to be repurchased all at once. Below are the Switchblade components that we believe can apply to the needs of warfighters carrying heavy weapons. Many of these products and configurations are already in testing or use in various Army and Marine Corps units.
